Made bug-buddy a little smarter (if --core was passed, default to
processing a core file, pid/appname -> attach etc). Also made the
stack trace acquisition non-blocking.
After I hear from Federico about the MIME stuff, it is probably
ready for release.

Released version 0.2 of the famous bug-buddy.
The reviews are terrific:
"...[bug-buddy] is one of the prettiest Gnome programs in
existance." -- Matthias Warkus

Did some fs code for OS... seems not so bad, but probably some
tricky things in there.
Prolog seemed a lot easier after a few hours of sleep :)

Wow I didn't get much done today. Went to the CLUG meeting. itp's
roommate talked about his game he's developing, and about developing
games on Linux. They are doing some neat stuff. Probably should do
the disk buffer cache for OS tomorrow.
Found and fixed a gnome-libs bug. Yay. Released bug-buddy
0.3. Pretty much the same, but some build fixes. All reported
bug-buddy bug reports are fixed. :)

Woke up in time to attend about 10 minutes of class today. I think
they were talking about microkernels or something. Went to see Dogma
with Lenza. Coincidentally my computer is named serendipity. Anyway
it was pretty good, i guess. Made me want to sing Wesley Willis at
the end though. Finally installed xv and ran xscreensaver's
webcollage. Got thispretty gross image (not for the faint of
heart). Emailed jwz about this, got email back. How exciting. Anyway
time to go have some nightmares about that thing.

Thought about OS, but didn't work on it.
Saw "Mystery Men" at the UC... twice. Pretty good, kind of like
"Last Action Hero" but different.
Listened to Erika's radio show; my sister's friend called in and
requested "Bertha Butt Boogie". Went and visited Erika at the
station, and actually said hi on the air. That all turned into the
me seeing the movie again thing.
Came back and cleaned up bug-buddy a bit. I guess Telsa likes it.
Also got my web page back up. Seems www.andrew.cmu.edu is
malfunctioning though. Guess I should move the bug-buddy page or
something.
Fixed up some things and released version 0.4 of bug-buddy. There is
not really anything usability-wise that I can complain about.
Watched the game. Very exciting. Pittsburgh media people seemed
pretty salty about it. :)
Took a nice walk. It's a nice level of coldness out now.
My fortune cookie read, "Advancement will come with hard work." Oh
well.

Did some 347 and OS homework.
Thought about things.
Installed kdevelop. They have a little bug reporting thingie in
there.
Yesterday's fortune cookie: "New and rewarding opportunities will
soon develop for you."
Peter Braam (founder of the CLUG thing here and now-RH employee)
gave a talk on the Linux kernel in OS. Pretty much the same one he
gave to the CLUG last year.
Some guy talked about DRAM in 347. Not very exciting.
Spent the afternoon playing partition roulette, juggling things
around so I could try out caldera and corel's linuxes (hrm). Anyway
both don't seem to be eager to install from a hard drive, which is a
pity. Caldera's was nice enough to even like to more or less hang
there when my ethernet card is in there. Ended up installing som
potato on a partition, and i how have a bigger /home and /opt
partitions.
I think I haven't slept in like 37 hours or something. Back to the
joy of prolog........

Woke up early for an appointment... they were late.
Did a little work on the async/non-blocking GnomeLess. There might
be some issues with GIOChannels though.
Got Corel linux installed... their FM has some issues. Didn't get to
run their install though. Overall it doesn't seem that impressive,
until I installed the OG slink .debs :)
If you are bored here are some corel screenshots:
[ i don't have these screenshots anywhere that i know of any more --

The FM
The pager
Might make more later if I am bored.....

Peter Braam talked about the VFS in Linux and about CODA.
Spent a good deal of today wrestling with this 486. After bad floppy
drives/disks, I was finally ready to apt-get when the computer
decides to lock up on me.
So when i run mkfs -c on the scsi drive, it will hang in
there. Which is too bad. I could probably just nfs mount the /usr or
something, that would solve things. Anyway, there isn't much that is
more frustrating than not being able to do a simple Linux install.
Saw 'Eyes Wide Shut' again. I wonder if anyone would like it if
Cruise and Kidman and Kubrick weren't involved.

Installed RH 6.1 in the hopes of getting the help browser to crash
(since there were like 3 more bug reports file today). Net install
seemed to be broken, so broke down and used the cd. Upgraded to OG
and tried the help browser... no crashing. Tried with pixmap themes
and stuff, still none.
Got the mkfs -c to successfully complete on that scsi drive, and
eventually made it to dselect (had to use slink). Then gzip starts
seg faulting when it tries to install the packages. I should try
some different ram or something.

Back to school after a nice break. Had a good time with my friends,
parents, and dogs.
Since returning I hacked a bit on bug-buddy. The package version
code is revamped, and I think it is a lot better. Seems to work on
slack, red hat, and mandrake. I guess I installed mandrake over my
potato instead of corel, so I'll have to reinstall potato tomorrow.
My coke suppliers were all unavailable, so I am tired now.
